happy anniversary, dude.

Happy Tuesday, friends! And happy anniversary to us!

Anniversary

We're going to celebrate our eight years of marriage at Viphalay, our go to resto for Thai and Lao food. We've had a love affair with Southeast Asian food since our trip to the region in 2005. I'm especially looking forward to digging into Viphalay's authentic pad thai, tasty salad rolls, stuffed tofu and sweet roti. And we'll toast our big day with some refreshing Thai iced tea. The stuff is powerfully addictive and delicious. Can't wait!

p.s. Isn't the cartoon of us and our dog Lucy so much fun? I thought it was too adorable not to share.
It was sketched by artist Flavio Rojas and was a gift for Scott. I had asked Flavio to put ko te pito on Scotty's shirt. It's the first thing I taught him to say in Croatian. It means, who asked you? Ha!

shop talk: crate & barrel's coming to edmonton!

Boy, was I excited when I spied this sign at Southgate Centre last week.

C'est vrai! A Crate & Barrel is setting up shop in Edmonton this fall, which means 3 hour jaunts to Calgary will no longer be needed. Très bon!

I can't wait to peruse the kitchen gadgets, tableware, bath accessories, linens, rugs, lamps, amazing accents and of course, lovely furniture pieces for every room in the house! I wish I was getting married this year so I could set up a wedding registry with them. ;)

As for my first purchase? I think it might be this grey ikat pillow.

Now, if only West Elm could make a presence in our fair city. That would make me twice-happy.

Happy Monday friends!

hello sunshine!

Say hello to my sunny new friend. Ain't she a beaut?

I've been looking all over the dang place for a vibrantly-hued bag that could be worn crossbody but wasn't having much luck. What can I say, I like having my hands free to eat gelato and other delicious things. And then, serendipitously, I stumbled upon this honey mustard beauty at Banana Republic.  On sale from $310 to $90 (CDN)! Oh my! I may have done the Balki Bartakamous dance of joy when I saw the price tag. I just love me a good bargain. Plus, I'm not the kind of lady that shells out 300 clams for a bag. Even if it's a bag I love to bits. I'm fickle. And frugal. And my taste changes. Frequently. That's also one of the reasons why I've never gotten a tattoo.

Here's Sunny lounging on one of my freshly stained Adirondack chairs. Yes! Remember when I told you I had a challenging task ahead of me which involved assembling a bunch of Adirondack chairs? Well, I've been quite the busy lady lately and I'm almost finished, which means there'll be a garden reveal coming very soon peeps. I'm excited to show you what I've been up to in my backyard.

Happy Sunday friends! Hope your weekend is all that and a bag of chips.

decor: off the map

Aren't these paper cut maps of NYC, Paris and London just lovely?

They're the beautiful work of Julie Marabelle of Famille Summerbelle - a chic Parisian designer who resides in England with her husband Simon and their two children, Ophelia and Lucien (love those names!).  Julie began her own collection when she was pregnant with Ophelia and couldn't find what she was looking for in children's decor.

So glad she did.

Be sure to check out Julie's colourful, fun blog here.

Happy Wednesday friends!
